TRAINING FUNDS NOW AVAILABLE
FOR LOCAL EMPLOYERS
You May Be Eligible To Receive 50% Reimbursement
For Salary Costs Related To The Training Of New Hires
The Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium (WDC) announced today, that On-The-Job-Training (OJT) dollars are now available to assist employers with the hiring new employees. Under the program, employers are eligible to be reimbursed for up to a 50% of an employee’s hourly wages, while participating in an approved OJT program.
New employees must be permanent, work a minimum of 32 to 40 hours per week and make at least $10 per hour. The length of the training period is determined specifically for each new employee and is negotiated between the employer and WDC prior to the employment start date. Paperwork has been streamlined to make the process simple and extremely business friendly.
This is an excellent opportunity for employers to offset the initial cost of hiring and training new employees. Additional tax credits are also available through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program for employers who hire individuals from targeted groups. The WDC is also a broker for Trade Adjustment Act funds which assists employees displaced due to foreign competition.
Funding for this program is made possible through the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Investment Board in cooperation with the New York State Department of Labor.
